Where and how often do we meet?

All sessions are online via a HIPAA compliant platform.

How often we meet depends on the level of support each individual needs.

I recommend clients start out with 1 session a week for the first 1-2 months and then switch to once every other week.

What can you expect from nutrition or running counseling?

I utilize many different techniques with my clients to help them achieve their goals. Some of the techniques I use are S.M.A.R.T goal setting, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness, among others.

During our initial session, we will discuss:

  • Your health and physical activity background

  • My approach and what it’s like to work with me

  • Intake form and any concerns

  • Nutrition or running education

  • Goal setting

  • Plan moving forward

During follow up sessions we will dig deeper into underlying factors and core issues. We will discuss barriers, challenges, achievements, and changes that need to be made to your plan.

Counseling sessions are always client-centered. If the plan isn’t working or your goals change, we can work together to create a new plan of action.

What is health at every size (HAES) and anti-diet?

HAES is weight-inclusive approach to health and social justice framework trademarked by the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH). HAES does not mean that everyone at every size is healthy, but it states all individuals have the right to pursue health in ways that are meaningful for them.

What does this mean at Phytofueled Nutrition? This means that I would never put you on a diet or focus on weight as an outcome or indicator of health. Rather, our sessions would focus on improving performance by emphasizing other areas in your life such as nutrition, sleep, or exercise.

How long will we work together?

Nutrition counseling is individualized to each client. Some clients may only need a few sessions to meet nutrition and running goals, but the majority of clients work with me for a few months to a few years or longer.

I typically start seeing clients once a week and decrease frequency as needed. I approach counseling from a client-centered approach and will check in regularly about the level of support you feel you need.

How much do sessions cost?

I currently accept insurance and for individuals who qualify for insurance coverage the cost will vary.

For those paying out of pocket, the initial consult is 30 minutes and is free. Follow up sessions are 60 minutes for $75. If you choose to do a combined nutrition and running counseling session it is 60 minutes for $110.

Please note: run coaching is NOT covered under insurance. If you plan to do combined counseling, please schedule an initial consult and I will work with you to schedule your combined sessions.

Can I work with you even though I’m not plant-based?

Absolutely! At Phytofueled Nutrition, the goal is never to force individuals to be vegetarian or vegan. Phytofueled Nutrition puts an emphasis on plant-based foods because these foods have proven health and performance benefits, but that does not mean you have to be vegan or vegetarian.

Do you take clients with eating disorders?

If you are a client in active eating disorder recovery, I require that you are working with a healthcare team including at least a physician and therapist. I do not offer running services to clients in active eating disorder recovery.

We can determine during the initial session if we are a good fit.

Can I work with you even if I want to lose weight or don’t like my body?

Of course! I work with clients from all backgrounds, however, I do ask that my clients come in with an open-mind and take a weight-neutral approach.

It’s important to note that I am not a weight loss dietitian and will not prescribe a weight loss plan.

Instead, we will work together to explore your reasons for desiring weight loss, how you feel in/about your body, and work on creating goals that focus on health-promoting behaviors rather than weight loss.
